Designer · Freelance · January – February 2026

As a freelance Designer for the Gainesville Fine Arts Association, I was commissioned to design the official exhibition catalogue for Black Cosmologies — a group exhibition that ran January through February 2026 at GFAA Gallery. The project demanded that I function simultaneously as a professional photographer, archivist, curatorial collaborator, and publication designer — roles that rarely sit in one person but that I navigated fluidly across a compressed two-month timeline.
I photographed every artwork in the exhibition to professional archival standards — managing color accuracy, lighting conditions, and framing to produce images that faithfully represented each work for print reproduction. Alongside the photography, I maintained a comprehensive digital archive tracking every artwork's title, medium, dimensions, and artist name in strict alphabetical order, ensuring the publication could be assembled with accuracy and consistency.
Throughout the process I collaborated closely with the curators to understand not just the logistical requirements of the catalogue, but the deeper aesthetic vision and cultural significance of the exhibition itself. Black Cosmologies is a show rooted in Afrofuturism, Black imagination, and world-building — themes that demanded a design sensibility that honored the work rather than overshadowed it. Every typographic choice, layout decision, and image treatment was made in service of that vision.
The final product was a print-ready publication delivered to museum publishing standards — on schedule, within scope, and fully aligned with the curatorial voice of the show. This project deepened my understanding of what it means to design in service of someone else's vision, and reinforced my belief that the best design work is always in conversation with the content it carries.

Maintained a comprehensive digital archive of all artworks — tracking title, dimensions, medium, and artist name in alphabetical order to ensure accuracy and consistency throughout the publication.
Collaborated directly with the curators to gain a deep understanding of the exhibition's aesthetic, narrative cohesion, and visual feel — ensuring every design decision honored the curatorial vision.
Designed the full exhibition catalogue in Adobe Photoshop and Canva — integrating artwork photography, artist statements, and typographic design into a cohesive, print-ready publication.
